What we publish

The New Nucleus is a community of writers looking to communicate scientific information in a way that’s digestible and engaging for lay readers. We’re here to educate the curious about current scientific knowledge, whatever their scientific background may be.

Each submitted story undergoes a thorough review to ensure the information being summarized is accurate and engaging. During this process, we ask ourselves the following questions:

✔ Is the story an accurate summary of scientific news completely written in the writer’s own words?

✔ Is paraphrased text cited through linking keywords?

✔ Are any terms a lay audience would be unacquainted with defined to provide context and understanding?

✔ Is the story well written and grammatically correct?

✔ Is the submitted story an unpublished draft and a 3–6 minute read?
