Thank you for your response! I never thought about the role reversal Jo and Amy underwent at the end. Meg and Beth can be seen to undergo a very clear reversal in Gerwig’s adaptation as well, with the scene where Meg marries John (that could represent new life and rebirth) followed by Beth’s passing.
