As you can probably tell from the publish date of this article, I live in Canada — but it is never too early to start thinking about Thanksgiving. The heavy breath of apples and cinnamon, turkey cooking in the oven for hours, autumn leaves dancing outside the windows. There’s so much to be thankful for.

My family generally holds a traditional Thanksgiving, but with COVID-19, the past couple have been anything but conventional. As we begin to inch back to normal, and because I took up baking as a hobby during quarantine, I’ve been looking at new recipes to try this season.

Here are five recipes I hope to try this holiday that may one day become traditions:

1. Apple Cinnamon Mimosas

The first time I had an apple cinnamon mimosa was in Montréal on New Year's Eve. I didn’t know that such decadent drink existed — but it does, and I’m grateful.

This year, we’ve decided to make our own: for dessert, maybe dinner too. You can’t go wrong with a mimosa, but if you can, ginger ale or even more apple cider can serve as substitutes.
